KIM KARDASHIAN: HOLLYWOOD

  • Ben Martin

Kim Kardashian Hollywood is a free iOS and Google Android app that is basically about making lots of money, social climbing and making it in Hollywood by beating all your rivals. It’s a game that clearly highlights most of the things that are wrong with our society and the one that makes me question video game taste level for getting it.

The Kim Kardashian Experience

From the get-go, it is evident that this game places a lot of emphasis on looks. The first thing you will be required to do is to customize your avatar’s look by changing her hair, eyes, clothes, and skin tone among other things. However, you don’t have to fret about this because all the female avatars are gorgeous and slim and the male avatars are handsome. The graphics are also quite impressive. The animations are decent-looking, and the colors make the game more interesting and bring it to life.

Once you are all set, your adventure in Hollywood will begin. You will be a boutique worker minding her business when Kim Kardashian walks in to buy some clothes. She will notice your sense of style and offer to make you famous. Kim will do various things for you from hooking you up with dates to getting you signed up for a model gig. Whichever it is, the gameplay of this App Store and Google Play app for fame and glam remains the same.

You will need to tap various actions available on the screen such as flirt and check your makeup. I like that the different controls are conveniently located on the screen and well-labeled for easy access and understanding. Tapping the actions on the screen use up most of your energy. However, it pays off in cash, romantic hearts, professional hearts, and experience. When your energy runs out, you get to the worst part of the game; the waiting part which takes forever.

After the Long Wait!

It will take you at least 5 minutes to get a single point of energy. If this isn’t annoying, I honestly don’t know what is.  If you are as impatient as I am, you have two options. One, you can get more energy by using your stars which you get after completing tasks or gaining a level. For each task or level, you only get one or two stars. The second option is using in-app purchases.  There are a number of star packs you can purchase to make the game faster every time you need energy. These range from $3.99 to £39.99. This is a bummer considering you might not have any other option but to make the purchase if you want to progress further fast in the game.

The High Life

You might be wondering what the end goal of this iPhone, iPad, tablet and Android mobile is. Well, the answer is simple. The end goal is to ensure that you the player end up living the high life. I have been playing for about two weeks now, and I am almost at the top of the A-list, and I have a very impressive haircut that I could not afford in real life. Nonetheless, there are still plenty of things I need to purchase to keep up with the Joneses like condos, more vehicles and plenty of expensive stuff. On top of all this, I still get calls from Kim Kardashian which is very fun if you are a Kim Kardashian fan like me.

I adore Kim Kardashian, and this is the main reason I got this game. However, I have to admit that it is not among my leading video games to play. The only reason I have played it continuously is that I was hoping it will get better in the later stages, but this did not happen which was quite disappointing. For this reason, I don’t think I will be playing it again. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend the game to anyone. It sends the wrong message about fame and money, and it is quite dull even after updates. However, if you are still interested in the game, don’t let me stop you. Get the latest version on Google Play Store (Android app) or the App Store (iOS app).
