X Users Now Have Control Over AI Training with Public Post Settings
- 233
Elon Musk's X offers a new option for users to control the use of their posts and interactions in training its artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok. Previously, settings for X users defaulted to allow their data to be shared with the chatbot. However, the company recently announced that all users can now control whether their public posts can be used to train Grok, the AI search assistant. This new setting is currently available on the web platform and will soon be accessible on mobile devices.
The company also mentioned that users can further safeguard their information from being accessed by the chatbot by choosing to make their accounts private. This added layer of control comes as Grok, an AI chatbot available to premium subscribers on X, continues to evolve. Initially launched last November as a competitor to OpenAI's ChatGPT, Grok is part of xAI, an artificial intelligence startup also owned by Musk and has been trained using X data.
Musk has openly discussed the use of X data in training Grok, emphasizing its role in enhancing the chatbot's capabilities. Grok has already utilized X posts to provide real-time summaries of news events and answer user questions. Representatives from X did not provide any further comments on the matter.
