Steam to End Support for Windows 7 and 8 in 2024

Valve has recently announced that it will be ending its support for Windows 7 and 8 on Steam sometime in January 2024. This comes as a surprise to many gamers since the two operating systems are still widely used. 

The announcement was made on the Steamworks Development website, where Valve outlined the plans for its transition away from Windows 7 and 8. According to the company, they are working with Microsoft to ensure Steam will continue to work on Windows 10 and encourage users to upgrade their PCs to the latest version of the operating system. 

This move by Valve is not unexpected, as the Windows 7 and 8 platforms are becoming outdated. Microsoft also recently announced that it will no longer be supporting Windows 7 in January 2024. This means that players who are still using the two older versions of Windows may need to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 in order to continue playing their favorite games on Steam. 

Valve has also announced that the Dolphin Emulator will be added to the Steam wishlist. The emulator allows players to play older Nintendo GameCube and Wii games on their computers. This will give players access to a wider range of games, as well as allow them to get their hands on some of the classic titles from the past.

Overall, Valve’s decision to end support for Windows 7 and 8 on Steam is not surprising, but it does mean that gamers will need to upgrade to Windows 10 in order to continue playing their favorite games.
