Edifier G10: Does Sound Gives You Better Frags?

Sound makes the world a better place, better sound in gaming gives you a whole new level of experience that makes you on the edge of another level. When it comes to gaming gears for sounds most of the headphones for gaming in the market are a little over the budget of our pocket, it frustrates me, especially, whom juggles on cash for steams sales and gaming peripherals.

The Edifier G10

Recently Edifier has announced their latest series of gaming headphones, one of the series is the Edifier G10 and it is an affordable good sounding pair of headphones you can get out there.

Let’s see, the Edifier G10 offers a 40mm Neodymium drivers that provide a quality of 7.1 virtual surround sound which can be personalized by a software for a gaming immersion. The leatherette ear pads that filled with extra-thick foam gives you the comfort of long hours gaming along with the rotating unidirectional microphone while connecting to 2.5mm cable with in-line remote and mute switch with a USB virtual 7.1 streaming sound. However, what amazes me is that the G10 uses the same chip set with its brothers, the G20 and the G4.

The Exterior

The G10 has its camouflage housing with matte finish, I believe to give the headphones a military look. Nevertheless, it is not so much of a downside for me, but I was hoping they made more than one designs.

However, Edifier focuses more on its sound quality rather than the housing, therefore, making the G10 affordable, which is a huge plus side for those who are on a tight budget.

Not forgetting the Mic. The receiving quality of the Mic is decent both in game and on chat channels like Discord and Skype, I had zero complications while talking to my friends and team mates in game, they can hear me loud and clear on their end. Shouting and screaming through this Mic is fine as well, so go on and command your team!

The Sound

For the FPS junkies, especially those who are addicted to games like Counter Strike Global Offensive or Rainbow Six the Siege, the G10 does its job well, you are on the advantage of listening to your opponent’s footsteps, gunshots on explosives, hopefully, this will not give you the disadvantage of getting back stabbed.

But, worry not, not only it does a good job for FPS games, it’s qualities are satisfying as well for other gaming genres, I was happy when playing DOTA, Euro Truck Simulator and Hitman with the G10 on.

Granting all this, for those who are really particular about deep bass sound which goes boom boom, you may need to look elsewhere, the G10 may not provide you with deep bass you need, nevertheless it does its main objective as a 7.1 surround headphones, which is able to give you a better sense of direction in game.

To Conclude

Personally, with the price of RM99 I am satisfied and happy with the sound quality of the headphones when it comes to gaming and watching movies, but don’t expect so much when listening to music or deep hard bass EDM track with it, if your main objective is gaming, affordable headphones with good sound which gives your direction then look no further, the G10 is here for you. However, do remember to get the software after purchasing this headphone to use it at its optimum.
